Even if you're just passing through Moses Lake, Tacos El Rey is a must visit. This charming little place easily beats out any generic chain burrito joint, and won't disappoint those in search of a heartwarming full service taqueria. My work team and I came to Moses Lake for an assignment and after a few days in town suppertime came around and several of us launched from our hotel in search of a taqueria with heart and soul and Mexican roots.
Tacos El Rey delivered in spades. It's small enough to evoke that aura of authenticity, yet still spacious enough to seat several parties of people comfortably. The three women staffing the restaurant welcomed us in como familia, and the young lady at the counter answered all our menu item questions adeptly and without hesitation, equally fluent in Spanish and English.
For such a diminutive establishment, Tacos El Rey boasts an impressive menu with lots of options for customizing your meal, from the excellent/lengthy list of meat/protein options (including several wondrous marinated ones!) to the self service salsa bar which includes a Mexican style coleslaw salad and freshly chopped herbs. Everything about the food we ordered was perfect, equal parts filling, fresh, and scrumptious.
Vegetarians will be pleased to note that the beans they cook with here are not the kind made with lard.
I delighted in placing my order en español, and the staff were very encouraging, despite my lack of practice; my coworker did the same, and we both felt a surge of elation from the heightened sense of community and cultural immersion here. There's nothing quite like that feeling, whether abroad in Latin America or at your local taqueria.
Our food arrived quickly and immediately impressed us: generous portions and what phenomenal flavor! (Qué sabroso!) I quickly decided upon the daily special, 2 tortas (a la Mexican hamburger sandwich), chose two separate flavored proteins, and these alone more than satiated my appetite. A burrito saved for next day's lunch was equally delicious and held up marvelously overnight in the fridge.
What's more, having so raved to these women about the deliciousness of our food, they went above and beyond, sending us home with extra tortas carefully wrapped and packaged, which we eagerly shared with other co-workers whose suppers hadn't been quite so extraordinary as our own.
The team of women working Tacos El Rey that night made a tremendous impression on all of us, so much so that I felt inspired to take some time to compose a glowing review for them. I came a stranger and left a friend, belly full, taste buds enchanted, blessed all around and eager to return and spread the word about this veritable little corner of Mexico right here in Moses Lake.
I absolutely recommend Tacos El Rey and may this deserving local taqueria live long and prosper! -

Horchata and avocado salsa are great. Burrito was very mediocre though and the carne asada was ground beef! Staff was friendly but due to food I can't recommend coming here.

This is a legit taqueria with phenomenal food. I've had several of their tacos along with their salsa bar and also the really good Carne Asada plate which is a favorite to me and all are really good.
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express during a big snow and chose to walk to here for dinner as it's less than 500 yards away from several hotels in the area. They also have several beer selections and sodas to choose from.
If your staying in Moses Lake at one of the hotels in this location or just passing by I'd recommend giving them a try. -

I love this place! The food is delicious! I recently used them to cater a party and it was so easy. Everyone loved the food (I mean who doesn't love tacos!) The red sauce was the highlight of the night...those who could take the heat loved it!!! Those who couldn't had to try it! The meat was seasoned perfectly. I would definitely recommend them!
